Vari-Angle Mixer Installation

  1. Remove blank cover plate from tank manway and check mixer mount for correct size, hole location and orientation.
  2. Mount propeller and prop lock onto shaft if the manway is large enough for the propeller to "roll through."
  3. Install gasket and bolt mixer mount with mixer to manway. Installation can be facilitated by approaching the tank with the mixer on the LEFT.
    Mixer pinion shaft must be vertical when mixer is bolted to the manway.
  4. Mount electric motor to motor mount if not mounted at the factory. Install motor mount with motor on top of the mixer, align the mounting holes, install cap screws, and align the motor coupling.

Fixed Angle Mixer Installation

  1. Remove blank tank cover plate from tank manway and check mixer mount for correct size, hole location and orientation.
  2. If the mixer mount is not factory supplied, burn the nozzle hole in the blank mixer mount.
    Allow at least 12 in. (309 mm) clearance between the propeller tip and tank floor. The nozzle may be mounted as low on the plate as welding of the nozzle and gussets permits while maintaining proper propeller clearance.
  3. Insert the nozzle into the opening and weld after orienting TOP correctly.
  4. Install gasket and bolt mixer to nozzle.
    The mixer pinion shaft must align with the TOP marking stamped on the nozzle.
  5. Mount propeller and prop lock if the manway is large enough.
  6. Install gasket and bolt mixer mount with mixer to the manway. Mixer pinion shaft must be vertical when installed.
  7. Install electric motor (if not factory mounted) and align the coupling.

Motor Coupling Alignment

Jensen Series 600 mixer couplings have precisely machined edges that permit alignment using only a straightedge.

A — Oversize holes in motor

Final alignment should be made by lightly tapping the motor mount while the base bolts are snug but not fully tightened.

Manway Propeller Roll-Through Clearances

Table shows minimum manway opening depth (inches) required for a given propeller diameter to roll through a given manway diameter. Example: A 29-inch propeller will rotate through a 23-inch manway provided the opening depth is 8 inches or less.

Minimum Operating Fluid Levels

Almost every vibration problem experienced with Jensen mixers has proven to be the result of too little clearance between the propeller and the tank walls or floor, or operating with low fluid levels allowing air to enter the propeller flow stream.
