Installation
Pages 2–3 of the Series 400 IOM Manual
Series 400 Vari-Angle Mixers
- Remove blank coverplate from tank manway and check mixer coverplate for correct size, hole location and orientation.
- Mount propeller on shaft if manway is large enough for propeller to roll through.
- Install gasket and bolt mixer with coverplate to manway.Mixer shaft must be horizontal when mixer is bolted to manway. Due to light weight and short overhang, no additional support is necessary.
- Remove all belt guards.
- On units with factory mounted motors, the installation is now complete except for belt tension check and alignment as described in the Maintenance tab.
- On units where the motor is shipped separately, mount the motor on the base plate and loosely position the drive pulley on the motor shaft. Install belts and check alignment and belt tension.
- Re-install all belt guards.
Series 400 Fixed Angle Mixers

- Remove all belt guards.
- Install nozzle gasket and bolt mixer to nozzle. The motor sheave must be on the same vertical centerline with "TOP" stamped on the flange of the nozzle.
- Mount propeller on shaft if manway is large enough for the propeller to roll through.
- Install gasket and bolt coverplate with mixer to manway.Mixer shaft must be horizontal when mixer is bolted to manway.
- On units with factory mounted motors, installation is now complete except for belt tension check and alignment.

If Customer Supplies Coverplate
- Before blank coverplate is removed from tank manway, scribe a vertical centerline from top to bottom of coverplate.

|---|---|---|
| 420 | 8" 150# ANSI | 8-7/8" I.D. (225 mm) |
| 450 | 10" 150# ANSI | 11-1/8" I.D. (283 mm) |

Allow at least 8 inches clearance between tip of propeller and tank bottom. Nozzle may be mounted as low on plate as welding of nozzle and gussets permits, keeping propeller clearance in mind.
